July 4th

Came into town on Tuesday morning. We had fun driving downtown. Like at camp, many things were the same, but change comes everywhere. Had lunch with Brynden (cousin), Mary (work staff) and the Kroekers (volunteer staff from Hillsboro). We shared our orders with each other. The clam strips, fish tacos and shrimp were delicious.

The waterfront streets are lined with shirt shops and tourist traps. In the evening we stayed in Auke Bay rather than going for the fireworks.

As we made our way down to the docks for a 10 pm stroll, we couldn't believe who we bumped into- the Olmstead's. Steve and Janet became our friends during a year when they served at ERBC. Steve went on to be pastor at the Chapel by the Lake Presbyterian church. Steve has a pastor's heart and an amazing passion for Christ. I respect him so much. Even just spending 20 minutes on the dock talking and praying together was such a treat. It was a special gift from God. On the 4th, the camp had a float and we walked in the parade. Saw a number of church and camp people we hadn't seen in 17 years. With the beautiful weather there was a huge turnout for the parade.

Caught these 2 eagles on the way back to the car.

Also visited a brand new whale fountain. Very realistic.

With the weather so hot (83°) we picked up some Tillamook Mudslide ice cream.

In the evening we were invited to Tim and Judy Frega's for supper. Tim's the pastor at the Auke Bay Bible Church. It was another great evening of recounting God's faithfulness and praying together. What a blessing!
