Wrapped up our time in Haines. As I look back at the week, it was full and rewarding, but not without effort to be so. God provided. The kitchen provided opportunities to know my cousin, Brynden. She is 12 years younger than me. I had never spent much time with her. Not only was she a great cook and boss, she was also very patient and a great teacher with me.

It is amazing how after almost 27 years of marriage you can keep learning to know and love someone in new and deeper ways. This week provided opportunities for Sally and me to do just that.

The youth group were a bonus relationship that I hadn't planned on. Echo Ranch helped me identify my love and gift in connecting with youth 30 years ago. I was reminded how God had used ERBC to do this in other people's lives as well.

The youth offered a helping hand to a couple organizations in Haines. The locals took notice and were very appreciative. As a result we were invited to tour the National Bald Eagle Association. In addition to eagles, there was information on the wildlife of Alaska- even live eagles, owls and hawks.

It was a long ferry ride home Friday night. Saw a double rainbow along the way.

I was reminded we need the rainbow symbol more in our lives. From that rainbow on the ferry to Rainbow Glacier across from Echo Ranch Haines, God says the rainbow is His symbol that no matter our sinfulness, He is life. Through Jesus He offers love, grace, blessing and truth. We need that. Our world needs that. May I be a reflection of that.
