The last two days in San Juan have been amazing.
Yesterday I had the chance to visit the maid who served in our home. Yolanda cooked, cleaned and was a nanny for us while my parents were missionaries in the 70s. I have visited her every time I've come here. Yolanda is 89 so I always wonder if the present visit will be the last. We had a great time together. She sang a Spanish song she said she used to sing to me around the house. I updated her on my dad and siblings. Hopefully I'll get to see her in a couple years when I come back.

In the evening the Solid Rock staff hosted the translators for a pizza supper. They designated May as Dominican Staff Appreciation month. I was asked to share with them a bible challenge and how I have seen the translators impact our church groups. I shared from Colossians 4:2-6.

This morning I spent time reading and connecting with the staff. Also went to the NBA Barber Shop for a quick shave.

My barber used a straight edge to get it high and tight for me. Loved the experience! And only set me back $150...pesos (or about $3).

Next adventure had me headed to the ball diamond. Along the way we got stuck behind what I like to call "Wal-Mart on Wheels."

Monchy is Nicole's husband. He has a baseball team that develops players who aspire to first get on a team in Santo Domingo and then on to the majors. Two of his players have a big tryout on Sunday with Santo Domingo scouts. I hit grounders for about an hour.

Tomorrow we make the 3 hour trip back to Santo Domingo. Saturday I depart at 6 A.M. and hopefully will be home mid-afternoon.
